For the past few days, I’ve had this icon popping up in the bottom right-hand corner of my screen on my home computer (I’m running Windows 7 Professional):
When I click on the icon, I get the following dialogue box:
I wondered: should I do the upgrade?
A lot of people have some pretty definitive opinions on the matter. Our stance is simply that we do not recommend upgrading to a new OS for business until the first service pack is released. This is due to compatibility with critical programs and general glitches that have not yet been worked out in the initial release version. That said if this is a home computer or one that is not mission critical and you want to take the plunge, go for it. You could be inline for some headaches. It is only personal preference if you want to update, or not. There is not much of a pros/cons list yet, as Windows 10 hasn’t even been released. That Windows icon is to just reserve the upgrade.(The actual release date of Windows 10 is July 29.)
